Drum Evaporators

What is a Drum Evaporator

ENCON Drum Evaporators are electrically heated small volume evaporator available in two sizes. The DE-2 is a batch evaporator (auto-fill option is also available) that can process 200 gallons per 5 day week. The DE-4 is a auto-fill evaporator that can process 400 gallons per 5 day week.

How does it work?

Both models completely encapsulate a 55-gallon drum of wastewater and heats it from the outside, thereby eliminating contact of the heating elements with the wastewater. This makes the ENCON Drum Evaporator appropriate for not only standard wastewater streams that can be handled in other types of evaporators such as Thermal and MVC, but also for de-watering waste streams with high solid loading, such as water based inks, paints, adhesives, and concentrated residue from other ENCON Evaporators.

Please visit the Process Description page for a detailed illustrated guide on how the ENCON Drum Evaporator works.

What are the advantages of ENCON Drum Evaporators?

  • Affordable way to de-water small volume waste streams to greatly reduce hauling costs
  • Easy to operate
  • As it uses a 55 gallon drum as the evaporation vessel, the residue does not need to be scraped and removed. The drum can simply be capped and hauled for disposal.
  • Great for waste streams too concentrated for traditional evaporators
  • Drum Dryer Option: The ENCON Drum Evaporator can be fitted with an optional Drum Dryer package, enabling the unit to operate in dryer mode to reduce standard drum residue slurry to a dry pile of solids. Please visit the ENCON DRUM DRYER page for more detailed information.

What waste streams can the ENCON Drum Evaporator Process?

(MVC) EvaporatorThe ENCON Drum Evaporator can handle many common waste streams. If your waste stream is substantially water, it is likely to be an excellent application. Visit the APPLICATIONS page for a listing of common applications for ENCON Evaporators.

In addition to the applications that can be handled in all ENCON Evaporators, the ENCON Drum Evaporator is also appropriate for de-watering with high solids loading. This is due to the fact that the ENCON Drum Evaporator heating elements do not come in contact with the wastewater. Examples of these include water based inks, paints, adhesives and concentrated residue from other ENCON Evaporators.
